The European Commission has given approval as per the EU State Aid rules to a €84mn Danish scheme to support cleantech manufacturing capacity in accordance with the Clean Industrial Deal objectives.

It is well to be noted that this scheme will help transition to a net-zero economy. Apparently, the scheme was granted approval under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework – CISAF which was adopted by the Commission on 25 June 2025.

Participation in the €84mn Danish scheme to support cleantech manufacturing will be accessible to all companies investing in the manufacturing capacity when it comes to the production of some of the net-zero technologies and also the production of the main particular components of these technologies as listed in Annex II of the CISAF. It also covers assistance to manufacture new or recovered related critical raw materials that are needed for the final products or primary specific components. Assistance under the scheme will be in the shape of direct grants. The support may be issued until 31 December 2026.

The Commission determined that the scheme meets the criteria outlined in CISAF. Particularly, the support will incentivize the development of clean technologies in addition to the production of their primary specific components as well as associated critical raw materials. The Commission determined that the scheme is necessary and suitable to speed up the shift in the direction of a net-zero economy and to encourage the growth of certain economic activities deemed important for the execution of the Clean Industrial Deal. Ultimately, the Commission determined that the scheme is proportionate, since the assistance is limited to the bare minimum necessary and has little impact on competition as well as commerce between Member States. On this foundation, the Commission granted approval for the scheme according to EU state aid rules.
