Ties to Develop Semiconductor Engineering and Manufacturing

Samsung Electronics announced on September 09, 2026, that it officially entered into a strategic alliance with Mistral AI to further develop its semiconductor engineering and manufacturing capabilities, which will bolster its dominance in AI chip technologies.

The announcement of the alliance was made during the South Korea-France state summit, which was held in Paris. As part of the collaboration, Samsung will incorporate the AI services and solutions of Mistral, including its leading large language model Mistral Large, into its semiconductor business so as to develop custom on-premises AI models that are designed for intelligence-driven infrastructure.

Samsung is likely to receive an exclusive set of tools from Mistral’s powerful AI platform, which could revolutionize the design and manufacturing of semiconductors.

The enterprise on-premises solutions will particularly guarantee the safety and adaptability that are necessary to manage ultra-sensitive technologies and operational data within the bounds of the semiconductor infrastructure of Samsung, retaining full control throughout its mission-critical technologies.

It is well to be noted that fast data analysis in the fab is critical as the semiconductor procedures become advanced and complicated. Samsung is trying to use dedicated AI models for defect identification and equipment optimization to speed up development cycles, boost manufacturing accuracy, and stabilize output for its cutting-edge memory and logic chips.

As per the Vice Chairman & CEO of Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions – DS Division, Young Hyun Jun, “Increasing complexities involved in AI chip design and manufacturing require continuous innovation in semiconductor technologies. We look forward to working with Mistral and supporting the evolving needs of customers while delivering new breakthroughs across the semiconductor ecosystem essential to the AI era.”

According to the co-founder and CEO of Mistral, Arthur Mensch, “AI is reshaping how we build complex technologies, from silicon to software. We are proud to support Samsung Electronics with our expertise in electronics and semiconductors, helping to improve how chips are designed and manufactured and to accelerate technical progress across the global semiconductor and AI value chain.”

Apparently, Samsung also led the Series D funding round for Mistral AI, taking a tactical equity stake in order to promote long-term technology partnership. Samsung’s lead investment signals growing industry cooperation throughout the advanced chip ecosystem.

Notably, as part to bolster semiconductor engineering and manufacturing, Samsung will use its renowned silicon technologies in combination with AI innovators like Mistral to keep up its path toward a more widespread AI transformation throughout its semiconductor business and to fulfill the various requirements of its customers, right from advanced memory as well as logic to foundry services.
