Norsk Titanium announced that it has been granted Nadcap nod for additive manufacturing at its Plattsburgh, New York facility. Nadcap is the industry standard when it comes to special process accreditation, allowing original equipment manufacturers – OEMs as well as their Tier 1 suppliers to accelerate supplier audits.
The Nadcap nod for additive manufacturing cuts the time to market for structural titanium parts manufactured with Rapid Plasma Deposition technology from Norsk Titanium. Apparently, Aerospace OEMs as well as defense prime contractors rely on Nadcap in order to pre-validate process control, repeatability as well as traceability which by the way is the same audit that they would otherwise have to perform to authorise a new supplier for production. This certification allows Norsk Titanium to shorten the pre-production audit cycle, speeding up the customer programs right from contract to delivery. This is an accreditation for additive manufacturing at the Plattsburgh location of the company. It supplements a current ITAR compliant facility at the same location, expanding the eligibility base from which Norsk Titanium is exploring programs in defense, aerospace along with space.
