A former steel mill site in Gadsden is being turned into a major manufacturing campus.  Minth Group commenced construction on August 3, 2026 on its new facility at the former Republic Steel and Gulf States Steel property, investing over $430 million.

The project will generate over 1,300 jobs and will serve as the largest campus of the company in the world.

Esther Chin, CEO of Minth Group, said that “What started as a family business has now grown to be one of the top 100 auto suppliers in the world. Today we celebrate a new milestone, breaking ground on what is the largest land footprint Minth has globally. Gadsden is now part of the Minth family and we couldn’t be more excited to make this a flagship location for our growth in the United States.”

Leaders have called the development of this major manufacturing campus a significant investment in the future of Gadsden, with production scheduled to begin in 2027.
