Optima Packaging Group successfully completed FiberOne Pro, a high-performance platform in terms of industrial-scale production of fiber-based packaging. The system handles both dry molded fiber and formable paper by means of paper thermoforming on the same platform, aiding converters and brand owners to introduce new packaging ideas into high-volume manufacturing.
FiberOne Pro, as part of industrial-scale production, combines material prep, cutting and stacking, forming, and barrier application in one platform. It takes formable paper, pulp, airlaid web, pancake paper, tissue, and also material combinations. Barrier technologies in the web can create a barrier to water, oil, grease, water vapor, and oxygen. Integrated recycling supports the efficient use of materials.
It runs at a set cycle time of three seconds and is capable of up to 1,900 portion packs per minute, depending on the application, material, and tooling. Depths can be as deep as 120 millimetres – ±0.1 millimetres and complex geometries can be created.
The platform is designed to be used for applications across the entire consumer packaged goods sector. The first application ideas have already been proved, and further industrial trials together with customers are ongoing so as to transition fiber-based packaging solutions into scalable production settings.
Says CEO at Optima Packaging Group, Stefan König, “The discussion about fiber packaging is no longer about feasibility. The next challenge is industrialization. FiberOne Pro was developed to bring new fiber concepts into high-volume manufacturing environments.”
FiberOne Pro is part of the all-in-one fiber packaging solution from Optima. Based on extensive know-how in materials, packaging development, and manufacturing processes, Optima counsels customers on the most appropriate option for the particular product, application, and production requirements. Dry molded fiber is one of several options in a wider technology selection that encompasses paperboard forming and paper thermoforming. Optima integrates these technologies with downstream automation to design the entire packaging and production process as a single, integrated solution from the very start.
The machine family FiberOne also includes the FiberOne Pro, as well as the FiberOne Alpha and Core. Alpha is a great machine to get started using for DMF and paper thermoforming. Core is versatile enough for generating small SKUs but also with significant output.
More information on FiberOne Pro will be available at booth S-1640 of PACK EXPO International, Chicago, to be held between October 18 and 21, 2026. More application perspectives and discussions will take place at the Fiber Packaging Days, hosted by Optima in Germany, on November 18-19, 2026.
