Enphase Boosts US Manufacturing in Solar, BESS, Power Infra

In a recent development, Enphase Energy reiterated its pledge to design and manufacture critical power electronics in the U.S. increasing domestic output when it comes to residential and commercial solar, BESS and next-gen power infra when it comes to artificial intelligence data centers.

The company presently manufactures its IQ® Microinverters and IQ® Batteries at standard manufacturing plants located in South Carolina and Texas and intends to manufacture its next-generation IQ® Solid-State Transformer – IQ® SST platform for AI data centers across the U.S.

As Enphase boosts US manufacturing, the move enhances U.S. energy security, bolsters domestic supply chains and comes amid increasing demand for electricity from electrification and the explosive rise of AI data centers, Enphase says, noting the growing importance of safe power electronics.

The company said its U.S.-made IQ Microinverters and IQ Batteries, which have a DOM suffix, can assist qualified solar and storage projects in meeting domestic procurement standards and qualifying for U.S. domestic content tax incentives. Selected products are also in line with Buy American Act and Build America, Buy America requirements, and certain products could be classified as Foreign Entity of Concern – FEOC-compliant in terms of rooftop solar and distributed battery energy storage uses.

It is well to be noted that as Enphase boosts US manufacturing, it also intends to manufacture power electronics as far as its next-generation IQ® Bidirectional EV Charger is concerned in the U.S., extending its domestic clean energy product line even further.The next-gen IQ SST platform of the company is for AI data centers and various other high-power use cases. The platform, constructed around gallium nitride – GaN technology, will take medium voltage alternating current – AC and switch it straight to the 800 V direct current – DC that is needed by modern AI computing infrastructure using a modular architecture with distributed control, software intelligence as well as built-in redundancy.

Enphase predicts that a 1 GW AI data center would need about 250,000 IQ SST power modules not including redundancy and that 10 GW of deployments might call for in the approximate range of 2.5 million modules, suggesting the magnitude of future demand.

As per the company, their manufacturing experience serves as a solid basis for scaling the platform, having shipped roughly 89.4 million microinverters worldwide, which includes 5.5 million units manufactured in the U.S. in 2025.

Enphase highlighted its ongoing commitment to global markets such as Europe, Australia, India as well as other regions where it intends to continue creating new products to meet local grid standards, regulations and consumer demands even as it expands U.S. manufacturing capabilities.
