Eaton recently celebrated the expansion of manufacturing facility in Austria at Schrems, on 1 October 2026.

It is well to be noted that the expansion meets rising demand caused by electrification and digitalization throughout Europe while ramping up local manufacturing capacities for electrical safety and power management solutions. The expansion was completed in less than 10 months and includes fully automated production in addition to advanced digitization and end-to-end product tracking. Across Europe, customers are making investments in the critical infrastructure that helps keep businesses functioning properly, supporting economic growth and meeting the increasing demand for power.

According to Vincent Barro, who is a member of the executive leadership team EMEA, Electrical Sector at Eaton, “Across Europe, customers are investing in the critical infrastructure that keeps businesses running, supports economic growth, and meets rising demand for power. This expansion reflects our continued investment in manufacturing, technology, and a skilled workforce, adding capacity for the products and solutions our customers rely on every day.”

Supporting European customers with local manufacturing

Increasing electrification and rapid growth in digitalization are fueling demand for solid and efficient power management solutions throughout the region. The customer benefits of local European manufacturing are numerous. It enables a faster response to changing market circumstances and customer needs, it reduces logistics costs, and it reduces the carbon footprint because of its proximity to European markets. The facility will strengthen Europe’s manufacturing capacity and industrial expertise while ensuring stability and resilience across critical supply chains.

With expansion of manufacturing facility in Austria, Eaton’s Schrems manufacturing site is a great example of the role automation, digital manufacturing, workforce growth, and sustainable product innovation can play in advancing European manufacturing.

European strategic significance and engagement

The expansion adds 5,000 m2 to the company’s manufacturing space at its Schrems site, where fully automated miniature circuit breaker production and advanced digital manufacturing technologies are combined. End-to-end traceability and integrated quality systems offer improved visibility across production, assisting customers in meeting ever more demanding performance and compliance requirements.

The increased manufacturing capacity also addresses rising demand from critical infrastructure applications across Europe, which depend on highly available electrical power systems. At the heart of the expansion is digital integration via a highly integrated manufacturing execution system – MES that connects manufacturing and intralogistics as well as enterprise systems in real time. This results in more transparency in the production processes and allows for faster reactions to customer demands.

Developing future capabilities in Europe

The Schrems location is evolving into a showcase location for advanced manufacturing technologies and creating development opportunities for employees in the fields of automation and digital manufacturing as well as Industry 4.0 technologies. By doing collaborations with local schools and the Eaton’s Connected Learning Center, opened in 2024, Eaton is contributing to the development of the qualified employees required to promote the future of European manufacturing.
