Monter will collaborate very closely with CRC Evans to execute the first Hydrogen Valley pipeline project of Europe that will promote the development of a cutting-edge cross-border energy network from the Adriatic coast in Croatia to Central and Eastern Europe.
Apparently, the hydrogen project constitutes a part of the wider European North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley – NAHV that includes Slovenia and Croatia as well as the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of Italy. It provides a foundation for hydrogen transport and transition to energy in the region and also strengthens interconnections within the European market.
Interestingly, this first Hydrogen Valley pipeline project of Europe is setting the stage for the European hydrogen future, leveraging the global experience of advanced welding technologies of CRC and regional leadership of Monter as the primary contractor throughout pipeline construction, supporting delivery of critical hydrogen-ready infrastructure.
The network covers over 200 kilometers and consists of 3 large pipeline sections that require unique engineering and technical expertise and also includes key cross-border infrastructure such as hydrogen-ready pipeline systems, with parts of the pipeline built so as to allow for the future transport of almost 100% hydrogen. It indeed makes the project the new standard for modern energy networks in Europe, as each of the three stages will be completed and shall be fully operational by the 2026 end.
