AI-Powered Engineering and Simulation Features in Singapore

PhysicsX, the AI company revolutionizing industrial engineering, has taken a significant step in its global expansion plans with the launch of an Asia-Pacific hub in Singapore on October 8, 2026. The new office is backed by Temasek and the Singapore Economic Development Board – EDB.

In June 2026, PhysicsX announced a US$300 million Series C funding round and rapidly scaled up in the US, and the Singapore hub acts as a major base for the company in the Asia-Pacific region, extending its technology and engineering expertise closer to customers and partners throughout the region. PhysicsX already has 20 staff working via its Singapore hub and plans to expand its local team to over 100 in the following three years, including engineers and physics AI researchers as well as simulation engineers who will be forward-deployed.

PhysicsX is also working with a number of public and private entities in Singapore, including the likes of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research – A*STAR and Seatrium.

PhysicsX and A*STAR announced on October 8, 2026, a five-year collaboration to build AI-powered engineering and simulation features that could assist researchers and engineers discover and optimize intricate designs and manufacturing procedures more effectively throughout a range of industrial domains.

As per the CEO and co-founder at PhysicsX, Jacomo Corbo, “Some of the most consequential applications of AI over the coming decade will be in the physical world, helping us design better aircraft, chips, energy systems, vehicles, and industrial infrastructure. Singapore is an extraordinary place from which to build that future. It combines world-class advanced industry with deep technical talent, research excellence, long-term capital, and a government with a clear ambition for AI. Establishing our Asia-Pacific hub here brings our technology and people closer to the organizations shaping the region’s industrial future — we’re incredibly excited about what we can build here together.”

A*STAR five-year strategic partnership

The key to PhysicsX’s expansion is a five-year strategic partnership with A*STAR, where both parties will invest S$40 million in order to develop and deploy new AI capabilities to intricate engineering and manufacturing problems.

The effort integrates the PhysicsX platform and AI expertise with A*STAR’s scientific, engineering, and domain expertise and covers work in the areas of maritime engineering, advanced manufacturing, and semiconductor manufacturing as well as biotechnology.

The partnership will also open up possibilities to look into the use of AI-powered engineering and simulation features through A*STAR’s research and industry alliances.

AI is emerging as a fundamental capability for the future of science, engineering, and innovation.

As per Professor Lim Keng Hui, Assistant Chief Executive, Science and Engineering Research Council, A*STAR, “AI is becoming a foundational capability for the future of science, engineering, and innovation. Through this partnership, A*STAR will combine our research and engineering expertise with PhysicsX’s capabilities in physics AI to develop new approaches for tackling complex industrial challenges. The partnership reflects A*STAR’s commitment to building stronger AI capabilities across our research ecosystem and applying them to address real-world engineering and manufacturing challenges.”

PhysicsX is already working with industry leaders based in Singapore to implement this approach. The company has partnered with Seatrium, one of the leading providers of offshore, marine, and energy solutions in the world, to use physics AI to speed up development cycles and make design decisions more rapidly and better informed.

Digital Senior Vice-President at Seatrium, Lee Wey Lii, says, “As industries navigate increasing complexity and demand greater efficiencies, AI-driven innovation has emerged as a strategic lever for Seatrium’s growth. Our collaboration with PhysicsX brings together its advanced AI and physics-based modeling capabilities with Seatrium’s decades of deep engineering expertise across some of the world’s most complex offshore, marine, and energy projects. We see opportunities to harness and scale physics-based AI across our business footprint — from EPC delivery and next-generation product development to lifecycle services — augmenting human expertise, accelerating innovation, and improving project outcomes for our global customers.”

Developing Industrial AI Capabilities in Singapore

PhysicsX has partnered with the Singapore EDB, who have worked closely with the company to set up its local hub as part of the growth of PhysicsX. The partnership will support PhysicsX to establish a meaningful Asia-Pacific R&D and engineering mandate in Singapore, with a long-term commitment to develop local technical capabilities and talent.

Singapore is one of the most AI-ready economies in the world and has the ambition to create 100,000 AI-bilingual workers by 2029. Such a vibrant ecosystem is attracting technology companies to set up regional mandates and deepen their R&D activities in the country. Since 2024, close to 100 AI Centers of Excellence have been established in Singapore by global corporations from industries including semiconductors, materials, and digital technologies.

PhysicsX seeks to support Singapore’s AI ambitions by enhancing collaboration across the nation’s industrial, research, and technology ecosystem. With this commitment, the company will look to work with local universities on programs to help develop the next generation of engineering and AI talent, including possible support for PhD students as well as research and training collaborations.

Says Jermaine Loy, Managing Director, EDB, “We are pleased that PhysicsX has chosen Singapore as its Asia-Pacific hub. Singapore brings together deep engineering expertise, leading research capabilities, and strong industry partnerships, providing a strong base for PhysicsX to develop new solutions and scale them across Asia and beyond. We look forward to partnering with PhysicsX to advance AI-enabled engineering, create new opportunities for our companies and talent, and strengthen Singapore’s role as a place where AI can be translated into real-world industrial applications at scale.”

Temasek has been an investor in PhysicsX since 2025 and was the lead investor in the company’s recent Series C round. As PhysicsX was planning its Asia-Pacific expansion, Temasek helped shape the Singapore and regional strategy. Leveraging its experience in industrial investment and its knowledge of Singapore’s business and research ecosystem, Temasek helped PhysicsX find potential partners, including Singapore-based portfolio company Seatrium. This aligns with Temasek’s focus on enabling promising scientific and engineering technologies to scale to real industrial applications.

Russell Tham, Head, Emerging Technologies, Temasek Global Investments, opines that “AI is a multi-decade structural trend. Its biggest long-term impact will come when it moves from digital use cases into solving real-world engineering and industrial challenges,” said Russell Tham, Head, Emerging Technologies, Temasek Global Investments. “At Temasek, we back emerging technologies that can reshape industries and create lasting value. PhysicsX is a strong example of how AI can enhance deep domain expertise, accelerate innovation, and strengthen business resilience.”
