The global drugmaker, Bristol Myers Squibb, reported on August 10, 2026, that it planned to spend roughly $2.3 billion so as to construct a new manufacturing facility located in Houston, Texas, which is part of a previously disclosed $40 billion commitment it made to invest in the US.

The $2.3b new Houston manufacturing facility from Bristol Myers claimed that the new site will provide nearly 500 highly skilled jobs.

The announcement from Bristol Myers Squibb comes as global drugmakers have committed billions of dollars to boost U.S. manufacturing capacity, with many striking agreements with the Trump administration to avert tariffs.

The industry is responding to demands from the administration to make more medicines in the US, and companies such as Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, and Roche as well as Pfizer have already announced big plans to make investments in the country.

As the site is built and brought online between 2027 and 2030, Bristol stated that the project has the potential to create around 2,000 construction and associated jobs.

The Houston manufacturing facility from Bristol Myers will be an approximately 600,000-square-foot campus designed to manufacture small-molecule pharmaceuticals and more intricate drugs such as biologics as well as antibody-drug conjugates. The company said it will be expandable or modified as the pipeline demands a change.

The company also said it anticipates the site to grow beyond its original footprint as time goes on.

As per the company’s Chief Executive, Christopher Boerner, this investment is proof of their trust in America’s ongoing ⁠leadership in biopharmaceutical innovation.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the state awarded Bristol a $4.89 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant, and the project also stands eligible for benefits outlined under the Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation initiative in Texas.
