Senator Dave McCormick – R – PA on September 01, 2026, lauded the $1.2b funded by Chobani in 1.5m sqft manufacturing facility located at Lehigh Valley in the Upper Macungie Township.
The plant will create 900 full-time jobs in the Lehigh Valley throughout the following five years while establishing new markets for over 4,000 Pennsylvania dairy farmers.
The investment that has been announced is likely to be the largest boost in terms of demand for Pennsylvania dairy in the history of the Commonwealth.
Once completely operational, this $1.2b funded by Chobani in 1.5m sqft manufacturing facility at Lehigh Valley is expected to handle over 3 billion pounds of Pennsylvania milk per year, which is approximately 30% of all milk that is at present produced in the state.
Senator McCormick has been acquainted with Hamdi Ulukaya, Chobani’s founder and CEO, for some time and has long respected his vision, dedication to doing well through accomplishing the right thing, and determination to invest for the long run. That partnership, combined with months of effort by the governor’s team in tandem with Chobani’s leadership, helped propel this project from initial curiosity to a completed deal in Pennsylvania.
According to Senator McCormick, “When an innovative company like Chobani chooses to invest in Pennsylvania, it’s a vote of confidence in our workers, our farms, and our manufacturing strength. I’ve known Hamdi Ulukaya and Chobani President and COO Kevin Burns for decades, and both are exceptional business leaders. I was proud to work alongside Chobani’s leadership and the governor’s team to help bring this investment home. It will mean good jobs, new opportunities for our dairy farmers, and more economic growth in the Lehigh Valley.”
This Upper Macungie Township facility will be bringing production, maintenance, and logistics jobs to the Lehigh Valley, along with construction work, as the plant comes online. The Upper Macungie Township facility adds to the Lehigh Valley’s manufacturing base. Those paychecks will, in turn, go on to support the restaurants and suppliers as well as the small businesses that surround them.
Senator McCormick added that “Pennsylvania has the workers, the farms, and the know-how to support an investment of this scale. This investment will create real opportunity for thousands of dairy farm families, processors, haulers, and communities across the Commonwealth, and I’m proud of the work our team did to help bring this investment to Pennsylvania.”
