Rockwell Automation, Inc., which is the largest industrial automation and digital transformation company in the world, on August 11, 2026, announced an API-enabled integration between Plex Quality Management System – QMS and FactoryTalk® Analytics™ VisionAI™. Available now, this combination expands AI-driven quality management and is proof of the ongoing investment by Rockwell when it comes to artificial intelligence as well as elastic MES solutions.
Interestingly, Rockwell is continuing to push AI/ML throughout its offerings, which include cloud-based MES platforms, edge AI, and digital twins. As per Rockwell’s report – Scaling MES Across the Enterprise, 42% of manufacturing processes will be AI enabled in 2027. The combination of Plex QMS with FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI provides manufacturers chances to develop strategic and automated quality intelligence.
According to group product manager at Rockwell Automation, Devin Burke, “AI plays a critical role in Rockwell’s industrial autonomy strategy. With predictive intelligence, manufacturers can shift from scripted automation to adaptable autonomy as systems learn, adjust, and collaborate across software, hardware, and workers.”
The integration is built on the API-first architecture of Plex QMS, allowing for interoperability. FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI integrates with Plex QMS to offer AI-powered workflows for new and current camera systems. These workflows help in detecting anomalies and reducing defects. Traditional visual inspection is just 80% effective and often does not save assessment history. The integration of Plex QMS with FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI provides superb visual inspection with the results logged in the Plex system for traceability, product serialization, and a precise record when it comes to inspection records.
Beyond the new API-enabled integration, Plex Connected Worker has just launched an AI-powered authoring agent in its Digital Work Instructions suite that converts CAD files and technical assets into organized, detailed instructions for frontline workers. Plex also has an embedded AI agent in its reporting and analytics capabilities, providing out-of-the-box dashboards that convert operational data into immediate, actionable information. These agents enable users to engage in natural language so as to pre-emptively uncover risks, anticipate problems, and make faster and smarter decisions—moving from practical foresight to action with just one click.
