15 HP Digital Presses at RRD Manufacturing Facilities

HP and RRD on October 14, 2026, announced a broadened strategic agreement to roll out 15 HP digital presses at various RRD manufacturing facilities, strengthening their enduring relationship through 2029. The implementation at the RRD manufacturing facilities will boost digital production capacity and operational adaptability and promote the global Systematic Manufacturing, Automation & Robotic Transformation – SMART manufacturing framework from RRD, therefore building on the investment announced at drupa 2024.

This next phase represents a continued investment in HP’s digital print technologies, services and solutions by RRD in order to meet the changing demands of clients when it comes to commercial print, direct mail, packaging, labels as well as statement applications. The expanded agreement leverages HP technology to integrate into its standardized data infrastructure, supporting broader SMART manufacturing architecture by RRD that enables dynamic production scheduling, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and network capacity balancing in order to mitigate supply chain interruptions. It also highlights a common emphasis on operational effectiveness, workforce facilitation, manufacturing flexibility, and scalable long-term expansion.

According to the President, Marketing and Operational Print at RRD, Craig Robertson, “Customers increasingly expect print to be more personalized and responsive to their needs, whether it’s a statement, a direct mail campaign, or a package. They need greater flexibility without compromising the reliability and consistency they expect at scale. This expansion gives us the capacity and capabilities to deliver on both, while enabling our teams to take on more complex, data-driven work with increased speed and efficiency.”

HP and RRD have collaborated for over 30 years in order to help drive large-scale digital print production through RRD’s global network, delivering increased efficiency and adaptability in fast-changing print settings.

Says Senior Vice President of Engineering and Process Management, RRD, Alan Gardner, “The agreement between RRD and HP goes beyond the purchase of assets. It ensures that technological advancements are incorporated into future thinking and project planning. By continuing to collaborate, both companies work closer together and find opportunities to advance manufacturing technologies, associated automation, and functionality to remain highly competitive.”

According to the Vice President of Strategy and Solutions, HP Graphics Solutions Business, Oran Sokol, “RRD has been one of the industry’s most forward-looking print providers for decades, consistently investing in technologies that create a real operational and commercial advantage. This next phase reflects the confidence RRD has in HP technology to support their production strategy. Together, we’re helping build a more connected, agile, and digitally driven future for the graphics industry.”
