Plans to Build Largest OTC Manufacturing Facility of Reckitt

Reckitt has gone on to announce a multi-year U.S. transformation with almost $600 million investment. The announcement took place on September 16, 2026. Notably, a large portion of that investment is dedicated to doubling its manufacturing footprint in North Carolina at Wilson home to what will become the largest OTC manufacturing facility of Reckitt in the U.S.

As per Jérôme Lemaire, President, Reckitt North America, “with a legacy dating to 1892, Reckitt has maintained a significant presence across the U.S. for more than a century. Our iconic brands, including Lysol® and Mucinex®, are trusted by millions of American families spanning generations. Today’s investments will continue building our scientific leadership and R&D, drive new innovations, and expand our infrastructure, allowing Reckitt to increase access for consumers to high-quality health products.”

Double Down on a Facility That Was First Announced in 2024

Reckitt has doubled down on its state-of-the-art over-the-counter manufacturing facility located in North Carolina. The site will be largest OTC manufacturing facility of Reckitt  in the U.S., with additional funding supporting growing production capacity for Mucinex® tablets and liquids and higher production volumes when it comes to Move Free®.

As per Harald Emberger, Chief Supply Officer, Reckitt, “Mucinex is our #1 over-the-counter product in the U.S. and the #1 global cough and decongestant medicine, so with the rise in demand for cold and flu relief, we are taking action to expand access to our products and build a more resilient supply chain.”

The facility will be about 310,000 square feet and capable of producing a variety of tablets and is expected to open in the first half of 2027.  This investment also greatly expands the physical footprint of the facility to provide the space needed to support future growth, enhance manufacturing flexibility, and support new capabilities as demand evolves.

Chief R&D Officer on the Bigger Innovation Drive

Angela Naef, PhD, Chief R&D Officer, Reckitt, related the North Carolina expansion to the company’s wider innovation strategy. She added, “By bringing science, insight, and execution closer together, we can move faster from discovery to delivery, developing high-quality, science-led solutions that meet evolving consumer needs and scale globally.”

Reckitt has more than 4,000 employees at seven manufacturing sites and three science and innovation centers across the US.

The Second Element of Investment: New Jersey

The $600 million will go to Reckitt’s New Jersey campus, where the company recently moved its commercial and operational teams and is about to begin construction on a new science and innovation center, a germ protection hub that will focus on disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care, and personal care. Reckitt will host its first U.S. Reckitt Focus event on November 19, where Lemaire, along with other U.S. leaders, will present the North America business.
