Scientific Cutting Tools Inc. – SCT unveils a series of solid-carbide port mills for machining hydraulic port profiles like SAE J1926 ORB and AS5202. This line provides a versatile choice for machining of hydraulic ports.
SCT port mills are intended for circular interpolation from a pre-drilled hole and have been developed to machine critical port features such as the seal surface and counterbore as well as chamfers. The line offers manufacturers a versatile option to traditional plunge form or reamer-style porting tools, particularly in conventional applications where accessibility, spindle speed, or production volume may be constraints.
Every port mills for machining hydraulic port profiles is created for a variety of port sizes, thus minimizing the amount of tools needed while offering greater versatility to the programmers and machinists from the shop floor. The line features tools when it comes to SAE J1926 ORB as well as AS5202 port profiles, with uncoated and Versa – AlCrN coated alternatives.
Notably, SCT offers application-specific tools for demanding sectors including hydraulics, aerospace, defence, medical, and energy as well as advanced manufacturing. Standard tooling availability is combined with bespoke and modified tools, says SCT, allowing customers to ease complicated machining operations while boosting access, repeatability, and overall cost per part.
According to the engineering manager at SCT, Sarah Kate Christopher, “Port mills are a practical solution for shops that need more flexibility in hydraulic port machining. They are especially useful for prototypes, small-batch production, and shops using lower-RPM equipment or smaller CNC machines.”
