Construction remains the largest application for aluminium extrusion, giving building activity a major influence on the industry’s overall demand outlook. The global building and construction segment was valued at $49.1 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $92.2 billion by 2033, representing an 8.3% CAGR from 2026 to 2033. Building and construction accounted for 50% of global aluminium extrusion market revenue in 2025.
That scale is important for the aluminium extrusion market because construction applications cover a wide range of products, including window and door systems, curtain walls, façades, skylights, canopies, louvers and partitions. Extrusion allows manufacturers to produce profiles with complex geometries while combining structural and functional requirements within a single component.
Construction demand is also changing the requirements placed on extruded products. Building projects increasingly consider structural performance, thermal efficiency, appearance and integration with other systems when specifying aluminium profiles. These requirements can influence profile geometry, alloy selection, tolerances, surface treatment and the amount of downstream processing required before a component reaches the construction site.
