Texas Governor Greg Abbott on August 19, 2026, announced that Amazon has gone on to select Austin to be the site of its new robotics manufacturing facility. The multi-billion-dollar expansion is going to make way for 300-500 new manufacturing and engineering jobs.

According to Texas Governor Abbott, “Texas is the new frontier for innovation. We congratulate Amazon on their expanded investment in Texas. With the best business climate in the nation, easy access to global markets, and a deep pipeline of skilled talent, Texas offers advanced manufacturers and technology leaders unmatched resources to innovate and expand.”

It is well to be noted that Amazon has invested more than $100 billion in Texas ever since 2010, which includes investments in infrastructure and in compensation to its 86,000 full- and part-time employees in the state of Texas. The large-scale investment by Amazon in a new robotics manufacturing facility in Austin underscores the role of Texas as a robust innovation and logistics hub for the company.

As per the vice president of Worldwide Economic Development for Amazon, Holly Sullivan, “Austin’s talented workforce, world-class universities, and strong community partnerships make it the ideal home for this facility. We’re proud to deepen our commitment to this city and the state of Texas.”
