First U.S. Manufacturing Plant in Fort Worth for AI Systems

Wistron, on July 21, 2026, unveiled its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, which is a 324,000-square-foot greenfield plant that produces superchips, which sit at the core of some of the most capable AI systems in the world.

Jensen Huang, the NVIDIA founder and CEO, took to the stage at the official opening ceremony of the factory with Simon Lin, the Wistron chairman, to talk about what it feels like to build the infrastructure for the AI era in America, in the presence of a gathering of Wistron executives, Taiwan government officials as well as local Fort Worth leaders.

According to Huang, “Manufacturing is an essential pillar for every economy and every country. Building chip plants, packaging plants, computer system plants like the D1 facility, and AI factories all over the United States has allowed the United States to really reindustrialize for the first time in a long time.”

Wistron’s D1 facility, its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, has at present two manufacturing cells in operation, one making the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip and another that will make the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. In 2026, D1 is scaling up to manufacture tens of thousands of the most sophisticated technology boards in the industry every single month.

The fact is that building AI at scale is more than chips + code. It needs production facilities, supply chains, and skilled labor. It needs a local manufacturing base that can build at scale and evolve as the technology develops. That capacity: the Fort Worth plant realizes that capacity. at the Fort Worth plant.

A $700 Million Pledge

The state-of-the-art facility is a $700 million pledge to advanced manufacturing in the US and has generated more than 500 new jobs throughout the Texas facility and is expected to grow to 1,000 by year-end.

Huang adds that “it’s creating jobs in plumbing, construction, manufacturing, and electricians. So many different types of jobs here in the United States.” According to Lin, “From the macro view of the whole AI world, down to community and country – it’s a great vision. I think we’re going to enjoy the next era of AI life. I hope that we will be happier and healthier.”

It is well to be noted that NVIDIA has pledged to produce as much as $500 billion worth of advanced AI platforms in the U.S. One of those projects ensuring that number is a reality is the Wistron plant in Fort Worth.

Building First in a Digital World

Notably, before construction even began, Wistron designed and completely simulated the whole facility in a digital twin built on a platform that included NVIDIA’s open platform featuring Nemotron and Cosmos frontier models, Omniverse along with Metropolis libraries, as well as open frameworks including PhysicsNeMo.

That allowed Wistron engineers to verify assembly line layouts, optimize manufacturing processes, and train employees on standard operating processes virtually, and that too before any system went live in the real manufacturing facility.

Conquering All Levels

The fact is that the AI era is not just about chips, it is primarily about winning every layer of the stack – be it semiconductors, systems, or factories that build them.

Huang says that just as agriculture is a fundamental infrastructure of society, in the future these AI factories will be a fundamental infrastructure of society. Today we have roads and agriculture and railroads. In the future we’ll have AI factories and the internet. Electricity comes in and the tokens get generated in the factories.”

As part of the ceremony, the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, which was made on-site, was unveiled and signed by Huang.

Huang called the system based on the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip the world’s most powerful AI supercomputer. He added, “It has one and a half million parts inside – two tons, 4 million dollars – and we’re producing them like phones, right here in Wistron, cranking them out in volume because the world needs all of these machines to drive the intelligence infrastructure.”

Fort Worth is writing a new chapter in American manufacturing. Wistron’s factory is an aspect of a broader commitment from NVIDIA so as to build in America, for America, and thereby strengthening U.S. supply chains, establishing high-skilled jobs, and offering American neighborhoods a vital role in shaping the new era with AI.
