Ohmium International Inc., which is a leading manufacturer when it comes to high-efficiency modular Proton Exchange Membrane – PEM electrolyzers, and Hynfra P.S.A., a pioneering green hydrogen and green ammonia project developer, on June 17, 2026, announced that they have gone ahead and signed a master cooperation agreement so as to advance green hydrogen projects in Middle East, Africa. For Middle East, the focus is especially on Jordan as well as Oman and when it comes to Africa, the target is Mauritania.
It is worth noting that the cooperation agreement to advance green hydrogen projects in Middle East, Africa relates to the Front-End Engineering & Design – FEED phase of the projects and sets up the framework for further cooperation. Ohmium will additionally offer technical assistance and PEM electrolyzer experience throughout the FEED and development stages of the three named hydrogen projects. These projects aim to generate green hydrogen for green ammonia applications, aiming to bolster energy security and long-term resilience in host countries via the development of domestically produced clean energy capacity and the reduction of reliance on imported fossil fuels and to provide RFNBO-compliant green ammonia in terms of export, such as to European markets.
According to the CEO of Ohmium International, Dr. Markus Tacke, “Our master cooperation agreement with Hynfra is an exciting milestone as we expand into the Middle East and Africa. Hynfra brings deep expertise and a bold vision for large-scale green hydrogen development, and together we will advance these projects to unlock green hydrogen and green ammonia production at scale. This agreement reflects the growing global momentum for green hydrogen development and our commitment to playing a pivotal role in that growth.”
With its abundant renewable resources as well as close proximity to global demand centers, the Middle East, along with Africa, has emerged as a key hub for green hydrogen. For Mauritania, Jordan, and Oman, expanding domestic capacity for green hydrogen and green ammonia provides a path to energy autonomy, economic diversification, and increased resilience to global energy price swings. The modular PEM electrolyzer technology from Ohmium allows for fast deployment and capacity flexibility.Says the CEO of Hynfra, Tomoho Umeda, “We work with multiple technology partners across our green hydrogen and ammonia projects, and we maintain at least two qualified suppliers for each technology category. That’s a deliberate choice, and it reflects the complexity of what we’re building. Ohmium is one of our PEM electrolyzer partners.”
The partnership agreement of Hynfra and Ohmium is a reflection of the growing international momentum that supports green hydrogen as the foundation of the energy transformation and an essential instrument for national energy security. The companies are well-suited to provide large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia solutions that enhance energy independence all over the MENA region by integrating the state-of-the-art PEM electrolyzer technology of Ohmium with the project development expertise and regional relationships of Hynfra.
