Oklo announced that it has acquired ARMEC, which is a precision manufacturing and engineering firm in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in order to expand the vertically integrated manufacturing capacity of the advanced nuclear technology company for reactor installation and manufacturing programs.
The deal concluded on June 4, 2026, provides engineering, fabrication, machining, and welding as well as manufacturing expertise to operations from Oklo. The acquisition is part of a broader plan by Oklo to bring critical execution capabilities nearer to its reactor development and fuel fabrication as well as fuel recycling efforts as the company moves from design and development stages to commercial deployment.
ARMEC was founded in 2002 and has over twenty years of experience assisting customers within the nuclear, energy, defense, and research markets. The company has about 40 engineers, machinists, fabricators, and welders along with technical specialists and has built relationships across the supply chain for both nuclear and industrial manufacturing. ARMEC capabilities go on to include high prototyping, fabrication, precision machining, inspection, and procurement support as well as mechanical engineering.
ARMEC has already supported engineering teams by Oklo in maturing manufacturing processes when it comes to reactor components, such as nozzle production, inspection planning, quality assurance procedures, and supplier troubleshooting as well as drawing development. Oklo intends to leverage these in-house capabilities to speed up feedback loops from design to manufacturing and to have more control over critical elements of its implementation schedule.
With a broader intent of manufacturing for reactor installation and manufacturing programs, the company saw three primary advantages from the acquisition. First, staff from ARMEC provides specialized manufacturing and engineering expertise to assist with reactor and fuel production programs. Second, one can expect ARMEC’s inspection, testing, procurement, and prototyping functions to support components and workflows that are critical to commercialization efforts. Third, relationships of ARMEC with its suppliers and customers provide further insight into supply chain obstacles and possibilities for better coordination in the industry.
In its last fiscal year of 2025–26, ARMEC was a free cash flow-generating business, which demonstrated the strength of its business operations and specialized manufacturing capacity.
Oklo is developing next-generation fast fission power plants and nuclear fuel recycling, as well as a domestic supply chain for critical isotopes. The company obtained a site use permit for a commercial advanced fission plant from the U.S. Department of Energy – US DoE, obtained fuel from Idaho National Laboratory, and filed the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
